We rented a 2017 Impala for 2 months while in Florida and had no problems with the rental, the vehicle worked very well and the rate was quite reasonable, approx. $1,000 less than the rate online a few weeks before pickup (booked at least 6 months in advance). The only issue I have with renting for this long a period is that you have to physically go to a Thrifty location at the end of one month for an apparent inspection. However, when I arrived at the office they only asked for the current mileage and didn't do any visual inspection. I could have called in the mileage and saved us an hour driving to the nearest location but apparently you have to check in after one month, in person. The pick up and return process is very simple and fast (at the Fort Myers Airport).
FRAUD ALERT: I made my reservation over the phone and was charged for a fueling option without my consent. They could not use their own data to tell that I had returned the car with a full tank (even though the return receipt I had in my hand confirmed it was full when I dropped off the car). The tank was 100% full as there is a Mobil station actually at the FT Myers airport. I called immediately after seeing this charge on the transaction closing receipt and they would not refund without me scanning and sending in the document showing a full tank at drop off. I made that call from the airport on Friday afternoon. I called customer service on Saturday to find out where to send the receipt but they are closed for the weekend. Now I need to pick this up again on Monday. Bottom line: the cheap rate and decent car comes with a side of FRAUD, lack of customer service/accountability, and at least three calls and emails to sort it out (assuming I can sort it out on Monday). FRAUDULENT fuel charge was almost equal to the charge for the four day rental. There are plenty of other options within walking distance from baggage claim. Do yourself a favor and AVOID THRIFTY!
“DON’T RENT FROM THRIFTY”
What happen to good old honesty, they had us sign the pad give us 2 pieces of paper and told us pick your car and go home. We picked up the car and when we got home and looked at our email a HUGE bill. They did not explained to us anything. Thrifty asked us to sign the pad, it explains about our 3rd party insurance, “THEY LIED” We asked to pick up the car and leave. Yet, we asked them if everything is good, All we were told was about our insurance. We are calling BBB, and explained to them how awful there customer service are. Also, trying to find a supervisor and explain to them it’s like finding a needle in hay stack. When we found one, did not speak good English and we have to go back to Thrifty to redo our rental contract…”REALLY” This is 2017 We fly to the moon, we are having flying cars, yet, they could not help us to make this correction, and it was there fault for not explaining the small details…
I reserved a mid-size SUV through Delta airlines website for pick-up at Ft. Myers airport. The price was the best I had seen anywhere else. The staff were friendly both at the counter and in the car area. No problems or surprises and quick service. I was able to pick my own car-I got a Nissan Rogue with 149 miles (brand new!) Returning the car was just as smooth. I just pulled up, showed the mileage and the receipt from my gas fill-up prior to returning and left with a paid receipt for the amount I was originally quoted. I would rent from Thrifty again-especially at the Ft. Myers airport location.
Very easy drop off and pickup of my rental car. Walked out of the terminal and across the street to pay for the car. I was charged the exact amount that I was quoted. Last year I used a different rental agency that tacked on all kinds of extra fees. To drop off I drove into the rental return lot where a guy scanned the car's barcode and I was off. Simple and inexpensive.
