One of the worst experiences in all of SWF.....The food was uneatable! I had the Chicago beef, I travel to Chicago multiple times every year and am very knowledgeable about what this sandwich should taste like. The meat was a frozen processed product that was like rubber! After telling the bartender that I did not like the sandwich he said he would inform the chef. He returned and told me the chef said it was fine and charged me for a sandwich that I took 2 bits out of. I find this type of customer service completely wrong! This is the first review I have ever wrote but I could not go on with out warning other people from make if the same mistake I made!
The chef made me special gluten free food because I have severe allergies and it tasted great! Definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone who needs gluten free. Very friendly staff who care.
Like all mom and pop places it is not without its flaws wich is also part of its charm. The customers and staff make this place feel like family. As for the food, every dish on the dinner menu will blow you out of your sneakers. The sauces chef george creates are second to none. Try it and see......
We went to Minerva's last night... the service was extremely slow. Minerva herself came over after we sat down and threw plates and forks down in front of us. Wasn't super friendly. We ordered drinks which took FOREVER (30 min) to get. We then ordered a 12 inch pizza. We waited 45 min for that. Once we got it... we tasted it and the crust tasted somewhat like sand. So we only ate a piece each. We moved the pieces from the tray and noticed what looked like a broken emery board under the pizza??? We waite for the server to come back and very nicely asked him what that was? He said he wasn't sure - maybe something from the oven. We told him the crust tasted like we were chewing sand. Have you ever done that? Not pleasant. And he goes "oh well should I box the rest or no." To be nice...we said sure. 20 mins later he came back with no box and the pizza STILL ON OUR BILL. This place was like a fancy restaurant that apparently was a dive. A few tables of regulars and that's it.
Had great service with what appeared to be a new server there. She was genuine and gave good service. Checked on us and always came back just in time to give refills and make sure our experience was okay. Food was excellent. However, the way she was treated by the owner? made us very uncomfortable. Atmosphere is not great. We watched how the people, not just her, the bartender too! were treated there and it made us want to leave as soon as we finished eating. Food really is great, but if you don't want to see negativity I suggest you find another place with good food.
