Yes the Dinning cars Are narrow, But these Train cars are a time capsule and back in the day that's how things were done, You got to know your fellow guest's.
I took my wife, daughter, and son-in-law. I purchased the tickets months in advance and the person I spoke with when I purchased them was great but hard to get an answer when calling. I am from out of town and was going to find a hotel but she suggested Marriott Courtyard with a special deal so I booked that also. The day of the event my daughter arrived early and got the boarding tickets early so we did not have to wait. We went to the hotel early and rested then arrived at the train at 5:45 PM. The service was as good as it gets and I am impressed how only two waitress handled the entire car. After reading some of the reviews I was surprised at the spacing, not over crowed at all. I am not into plays but it was fine and I could hear what was said fine. The fruit and cheese on the table was fresh and tasty. The first thing served was a diner roll and it surly needs improvement. Then came the soup which was surely homemade and hot. The salad was nothing to brag on. Everyone at our table chose the prime rib and when it was put on our table I knew I could not eat it all, it was big. Then we had coffee and cheese cake. Had to have a doggie bag as there is no way I could eat it all. After the ride we when to the Marriott and had a great nights sleep at a very nice hotel. The next morning the free breakfast that came with the train ride was fantastic. To some up the trip I would have given it a 5 but there is always room for improvement, start with the bread. I would do this trip again in a heartbeat.
Sangria was good. House made Key Lime Pie ( even that was good) though it was made on a sheet pan and not the typical pie shape. We can understand why (after all the kitchen is rolling along with us)
Now The Dinner Mystery,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Great show to watch. Actor's really had fun with the show.Kept you engaged through out the whole trip.
check in was easy. parking easy. Considering the train is moving while the kitchen is cooking, The meal was very GOOD. Prime Rib was spot on Med rare, fresh Mashed Potatoes, Fresh green beans (NOT canned) Chic cordon Blue was made on site ( NOT frozen) Wild Rice and Fresh Greens.
Well DONE
Last,,,the deal offered By the Train line with the Hotel room is a good deal.
Well after viewing all the different reviews it looks like the customer service is junk, and the food not so great, and no refunds if something bad was to happen in your life. I love trains and it sucks to live in a place where there is only one to go to but offers the worst service. Plus it looks like I will need to be well over 65 years old to have a good time. It makes me sad there is no place in this town where one can go for a good train ride specially when I have a 5 year old who is in love with trains but will never be able get into this one since all they offer is Murder Mystery. It would be nice if once a year they could do something a bit more family orientated and exiting for the little ones and not just take care of the elderly. I guess I will have to wait till I reach that age where there is nothing else to do then go on a boring train ride.
The Hotel stay was just as restful.
Great all around experience.
Salad was fresh, dressing house made Raz Vin, Potato leak Soup hot, awesome leak flavor, drinks do cost Extra, ( But they don't hide that fact)
front office staff was very helpful the day before with us on the phone.
Went here for Thanksgiving. I didn't go for the show but just for the luncheon. It's a fun little thing to do in the area and not something that I very common. I'd definitely do it again.
Honestly it's been at least 15 years ago since I've gone on the Mystery Dinner Train. I went with a group of about 20 people. I personally did not make the reservations but I do not recall any problems. I really enjoyed the experience. From what I remember, the food was good. Nothing fantastic but overall a good meal. I really enjoyed the actors and the service was top notch. I'm currently thinking about an interesting and entertaining place to take a smaller group of people and I think this would be a great place. It's been awhile but I'm sure it will be worth it. Hope to board the train soon!
