Overall a decent place. Food was okay, typical southern food. What gave it 4 instead of 3 stars was the service. Very nice server, made sure you get the hit sauce you wanted, refilled drinks, talked and interacted with you, etc. Just a decent place for decent food. Their broccoli salad is amazing, Mac and cheese is decent, not creamy enough for me, more the southern style with melted cheese then the cheese sauce style. Fried green tomatoes are nice. Had double dark meat 1/2 chicken, breading was decent, huge chicken leg/thigh quarters. You can tell nothing is seasoned during prep/cooking, but there is salt and pepper on the table so not a huge issue. I could see us coming here for a consistently decent southern food meal, which is surprisingly hard to come by in this area. lots of places with amazing food, but not consistently, or consistent places with super food, so being decent and consistent is a plus.
Recommended by the locals i asked while working down here. I like to find unique places to visit rather then cookie cutter chains. Menu is unique even has broccoli salad like our family makes. Never seen that on a menu. Dont let the outside surroundings concern you. Its nice inside. Great food
Great place for good ole down home southern cooking. Service is a little slow at off peak times (change over between breakfast and lunch)but that's because everything is cooked fresh, made to order. The wait staff is very friendly and some of them have been there over 30 years.
You can make a meal on their side vegetables they give you along with the yeasty rolls and corn bread. But these are just the sides. I had the whitefish. Another person to my party had The country fried steag. Another person had the baked chicken with stuffing. Everything was great except the chicken was overcooked and dry.
I have never had a bad meal here. Good southern cooking. Good service by staff. Always clean. Great tasting prime rib and fantastic pies . Missy our server was great
