Anamazing school with a lot of talented teachers. The whole school is fenced in and all visitors can only make entry through the main office. All visitors IDs are scanned and logged. They really do take security seriously which is nice.

I am only giving this school a 1 star because of the front office staff. Otherwise, it would have been a negative stars. This school is a disaster. Living in Gateway, one would think that the school would be an acceptable place to send my child. Boy, was I wrong. This school was a nightmare for our family. Bottom line....bullying is not only condoned...but its done by the teachers. If you think for a second that your child is "telling tall tales" about what they are experiencing in the classroom...sit in on a day or two. I was shocked to see what really went on at this school. Not only were the kids bullied, but the parents were bullied if they asked any questions. I pulled my child out after one year and he is thriving at his current school...and so are we as his parents.

I wish I could go into specific details as to why this school has been a complete nightmare for my daughter and our family, but legally I cannot get too candid. I also wish there was a way to select a negative amount of stars. We moved into the Gateway area at the end of last school year. A red flag was raised the very first week of school when my oldest daughter and youngest daughter were slapped for holding hands by a teacher monitoring the bus ramp. Yes, that's right slapped..hard enough to leave marks too! I should’ve run the other direction that day, but due to zoning reasons my children had to attend Gateway Elementary. Little did we know things were going to take a downward spiral, very quickly. My daughter has had many health struggles her entire life, but most recently she has been recovering from four surgeries. Because of this, we had to update her 504 plan. Her 3rd grade teacher has been nothing but difficult since week one of school. It is hard to fight bullying in the schools when teachers are doing it too. She has not only called my child out in front of her classmates because of her health problems, but she has also done nothing to help her succeed when she has to miss class because of her illness. She has no problem telling my daughter rude comments, making her feel “stupid” and “behind” because she is a “sick kid.” Yet, she will not send make-up work or practice work home for me to help teach at home or from a hospital bed. This teacher is full of put-downs and my daughter has literally had this teacher’s hands in her face mocking her. As the educator she sets the tone and standards for her classroom, and as long as you are one of her favorites you are good to go. If not, she has no problem watching other kids bully one another, physically and mentally. My daughter used to love school. She absolutely hates going now. She cries almost every night and has become very self-conscience. This school has completely changed my daughter. She has NEVER been a trouble maker (and still isn’t one). The principal makes up every excuse for her employees. The slapping incident was swept under the rug and she views this teacher’s behavior as a personality conflict because my daughter “rubs her teacher the wrong way.” I am seriously so done with the abuse and mistreatment from this school. My advice to any parent considering this school is to do your research. Just because this school is in our back yard and is surrounded by beautiful homes, does not mean that the school isn’t broken. Beware!

Love this school all my children are now attending and have been for several years now, great staff and great teachers.

Bullying is usually a big red flag. There is absolutely zero tolerance for bulling at most schools. However, Gateway seems to allow it. Not only allow it but the teachers are bullying their students and administration is doing nothing to stop it. This school doesn't even deserve the one star.
